American Foxhound

Appearance: Sleek, rangy hunters with longer, more finely-boned legs and a slightly more arched loin than their English cousins. Large, soft eyes have a gentle, pleading expression.

Traits & Characteristics: Good-natured, low-maintenance hounds who get on well with kids, dogs, and cats. Known for speed, endurance, and work ethic. Need lots of exercise; possess a strong prey drive and a loud 'bawling' bark. Can be challenging to train.

Origins: American breed, associated with Revolutionary heroes and old Virginia.
