Basset Hound

Appearance: The Basset Hound is a masterpiece of vertical challenges. With their long, low bodies, massive paws, and ears that could double as floor mops, they are undeniably unique. Their sad, droopy eyes and wrinkled brows give them the look of a very wise, very tired professor who has seen it all. Their short coat is typically tri-color or bi-color.

Traits & Characteristics: Bassets are the philosophers of the dog world—slow, steady, and extremely determined. Once they get a scent, they are unstoppable, though their pace is more of a 'leisurely stroll' than a 'sprint.' they are gentle, laid-back, and possess a surprisingly loud bark (or 'bay') when they have something important to say.

Origins: France, where they were developed for hunting small game at a pace that humans could actually keep up with.
