Appearance: Cheerful little dog (under 13 lbs) with spring in step, gleam in big brown eyes. Distinctive curled-over tail, gorgeous silky coat (various colors, can be corded or clipped short). Small but sturdy body. Cuba's only native breed.
Traits & Characteristics: Vivacious, sociable companions, popular with city dwellers. Adaptable nature, social skills make them ideal city dogs. Content anywhere with attention. Smart, trainable extroverts with comic instincts, natural trick dogs. Excellent watchdogs, usually keep barking minimal.
Origins: Cuba (descended from dogs brought by Spanish settlers).
