Labrador Retriever

Appearance: The Labrador Retriever is a sturdy, well-balanced dog with a short, dense, water-repellent coat and a thick 'otter tail' that serves as a rudder in the water. They have a friendly, open expression and come in three classic colors: black, yellow, and chocolate. They are built for work, play, and everything in between.

Traits & Characteristics: Labs are the 'gold medalist' of friendly dogs. They are outgoing, eager to please, and possess a boundless enthusiasm for life (and food). They are legendary for their patience with children and their ability to retrieve anything—from a downed duck to your favorite pair of shoes (which they may or may not return in one piece).

Origins: Newfoundland (not Labrador!), where they worked alongside fishermen to retrieve nets and escaped fish.
