Appearance: Toy dog (8-11 inches) of singular beauty. Large, wing-shaped ears give name (French for butterfly); can be erect or down (Phalene type). Dainty, elegant, plumed tail, long silky coat (various colors, base white).

Traits & Characteristics: Quick, curious, upbeat athleticism. Refined appearance, but doggy dog with hardy constitution. Happy, alert, friendly. More robust than look suggests; little dogs for all seasons/reasons. Thrive warm/cool, town/country, join family fun. Excellent agility dogs, consistent winners; trainable for tricks. Good watchdogs.
